Here are some additional Jewish sources on the practice of Kapparos.
Maharshal (Yam Shel Shlomo, Chullin 8:12):
…some practice Kapparos on the eve of Yom Kippur, but I find this custom to be foolish. It is dangerous and akin to non-Jewish customs. It should not be done.
Rivash (Teshuvot HaRivash 207)
It seems to me that this is an inappropriate custom, for it is close to the way of the Ammorites.
Radvaz (Teshuvot HaRadvaz 3:550)
The custom of Kapparos should be abolished, as it has no foundation in the Torah or the words of the sages.
Chacham Tzvi (Teshuvot Chacham Tzvi 77)
I have always found the custom of Kapparos difficult to justify, and it seems to me a practice that should be avoided
Pachad Yitzchak (entry on Kapparos)
Kapparos is one of the customs that does not have any grounding in Jewish law, and it should be discarded
Ohr Someach (commentary to Mishneh Torah, Teshuva 3:3)
Kapparos seems to be an unnecessary and strange custom, and in any case, it is not appropriate for those who follow the rational law
Rav Yaakov Emden (Siddur Yaavetz)
This practice is nothing but vanity and nonsense and comes from the foolishness of the masses
In the Vilna Gaon’s glosses to Shulchan Aruch 605:1, he mentions it’s similarity to the ways of the Amoorites. In Maaseh Rav (written by the students of the Gaon) 209, it is written explicitly that the Gaon refrained from the practice of Kapparos and told people not to perform the ritual although he did not publish a total ban.
